It’s been a good year at Lincoln Rural, Cummins with a focus on customer service & continued community engagement.
This year, for the first time Lincoln Rural Cummins is collaborating with Cummins Area School on an Ag Art Project. A small cohort of Year 10 art students are working on artworks relating to agriculture in the region. The artwork panels will be displayed on the lawns of the Cummins store for customers and visitors to enjoy over the summer season. We look forward to exploring and creating other opportunities to engage with our local schools through the arts and agriculture in 2025 so watch this space!
The 2024 CRT Schools Program was a huge success for the Lower EP with three of our schools each winning a $2000 grant from CRT for their nominated projects. Ungarra Primary School, Poonindie Community Learning Centre, and Port Neill Primary School all have fantastic projects that will be helped along by the gift and Lincoln Rural, Cummins has enjoyed working with them to make this happen.
Our very own agronomist, Sam Boehm has made the Cummins store his base since the middle of the year, bringing his knowledge, experience, and expertise with him. In July Sam organized a Farm Greenhouse Gas Emissions Information Session for local farmers. Held at the Cummins pub, the session was well attended and highlighted the importance of knowing what your emission intensity is. As we move closer to the federal government’s target of a 43% reduction in emissions by 2030, it was a timely session to get growers informed on how to measure their emissions.
Clients and farm visits keep Sam busy and on the go most of the time and he’s a great addition to our small team here in Cummins.
Like many businesses in town, we are committed to supporting local clubs and associations to thrive and we proudly have sponsorship connections to:
Though 2024 has been a good year we also suffered a huge loss in the death of Lincoln Rural’s founder, Warren Dickie. The Cummins community held a special place in Warren’s heart and even after retirement he continued to show up in Cummins every week to keep the Lincoln Rural store and yard in good order and those lawns as neat and green as any lawn can be. And, of course, to have a good chat with old friends who popped in on the day. He is missed.
Wishing all our customers and clients a safe and happy New Year and we look forward to being here for you in 2025.
